Perplexity AI, the fast-growing AI startup known for its conversational search engine, is reportedly in advanced talks with Motorola and Samsung to integrate its intelligent assistant into future smartphones.
According to recent reports, Motorola has already struck a deal with Perplexity to embed the assistant into upcoming Razr foldable phones, including a custom version tailored to the device’s unique form factor.
Meanwhile, Samsung, which invested in Perplexity in 2024, is now considering an expanded partnership. Sources suggest the AI assistant could appear in Galaxy devices as early as next year, potentially replacing or complementing existing assistants like Bixby and Google Gemini.
“Unlike traditional search engines, Perplexity’s assistant offers direct conversational answers and contextual understanding — it’s search reimagined,” said a spokesperson for the company.
The Perplexity AI assistant is already available on desktop browsers, Chrome extensions, and macOS apps. But integration into smartphones represents a major leap into AI mobility.
Industry analysts see this move as part of a broader trend: tech giants shifting toward on-device AI experiences that prioritize speed, privacy, and real-time interaction without reliance on the cloud.
As the battle for AI assistant dominance heats up, Perplexity’s entry into mobile hardware could signal a major disruption in the way users interact with devices — from voice navigation to hyper-personalized content.
